By: Nolo Law For All If you are employed at will, your employer does not need good cause to fire you. Job applicants and new employees are often perplexed to read–in a job application, employment contract, or employee handbook–that they will be employed “at will.” They are even more troubled when they find out exactly what this language means: An at-will employee can be fired at any time, for any reason (except for a few illegal reasons, spelled out below). If the employer decides to let you go, that’s the end of your job–and you have very limited legal rights [ Read More ]
By: APP.com | Opinion In the seemingly endless struggle to make ends meet, New Jerseyans may well find themselves falling even further behind in 2012. As staff writer Jean Mikle pointed out in the Sunday Press, there are at least “8 Things That Will Cost You More This Year.” That might be tolerable if wages were keeping pace with rising prices. But they aren’t. It’s hard to argue, as Gov. Chris Christie has repeatedly tried to do, that New Jersey has staged a “comeback” when most residents are being nickled and dimed to death, and have no assurances that regular [ Read More ]

During the event, Twitter promoted five official hashtags: #jobs, #manufacturing, #energy, #education and #fairness. Unsurprisingly, those were among the hottest topics of the day, with #education being number one with 35,972 tweets. The highlights of the event, in terms of Twitter traffic, were Obama’s mention of Steve Jobs, the part about energy and the President’s “Spilled Milk” line, [ Read More ]

A whistleblower case against Boeing for fraudulent maintenance on Chinook helicopters, a military helicopter, was settled by the payment by Boeing for $4.392M. This type of corporate fraud, had it been publicly known, would have adversely effected the price of Boeing’s shares. The settlement discussed in this link did not address share holder damages for the inflated stock price inherent in Boeing’s fraudulent conduct. The case merely recovered Government funds for the fraudulent maintenance services the Government was unjustifiably charged for. To report corporate securities fraud of this type, or any other please contact our office today for a secure [ Read More ]

PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo. Tell Congress not to censor the internet NOW! – fightforthefuture.org/pipa PROTECT-IP is a bill that has been introduced in the Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress.
